The Simply Beautiful 'Star Jasmine'

This flowering vine which can be trained as a shrub or spreading vine-like shrub has a lovely sweet fragrance all day all night.

Star Jasmine is a fast-growing plant that loves to be in full sun but can grows well in shady area.

Though Star Jasmine blooms all year round, I notice more clustered flowers when trimming the tips frequently.

Plumeria, Sweet Scent of The Beach

A sweet fragrance of Plumeria always bring back my memory of the beach I’ve visited, especially Hua Hin where I’ve first known this plant since I was young.

Plumeria or Frangipani, usually called ‘Lantom’ or ‘Leelawadee’ (ลีลาวดี) in Thai, is native to Central America but widely spread to all tropical areas of the world.

In Thailand, Plumeria becomes more and more popular during the past ten years. While hundreds of species are listed, the popular one is ‘Singapore Obtusa’ – all year blooming white blossoms with small bright yellow center and evergreen glossy leaves. This type of Plumeria flower is eatable.

I found that the taste of deep-fried battered white Plumeria (like Japanese Tempura) was amazingly delicious!

Lignum Vitae, The Most Elegant Flower

First plant of my blog should be the one I love most... 'Lignum Vitae' or 'Kaew Jao Jom' (แก้วเจ้าจอม) in Thai is always my favorite plant due to the beauty combination of colours and the elegant look.

'Lignum Vitae' is a national flower of Jamaica and native to the Caribbean and the northern coast of South America.

This plant first seen in Thailand in King Rama V reign as The King brought it from Indonesia.

'Lignum Vitae', listing one of the 'endangered species' in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, is slow growing, reaching about 6-12 m. in height with a trunk diameter of 60 cm. The blue flowers have five petals which yield a bright yellow-orange fruit with red flesh and black seeds.

This one in my garden blooms all year round...
